SunPower® announced the launch of its highly-anticipated Next Generation Technology solar panels on March 5th, 2019, which is the solar industry’s first-ever 400-plus-watt and the world’s most powerful residential solar panels.

SunPower is introducing the world’s first 400-watt residential solar panels as most in the industry are just crossing the 300-watt threshold for home solar, said Jeff Waters, CEO of the SunPower Technologies business unit. Our record-breaking cell technology and innovative research and development efforts have enabled us to fit more power capacity on rooftops than we ever have before. Our growing panel portfolio is delivering unprecedented value across global markets that goes unmatched by any other residential solar technology currently available.

Traditional solar panels’ typical rating is 300W, with only an additional 7 inches in height difference, the SunPower 415 A-series produces 38% more ‘rated’ power. When matched with SunPower’s Maxeon® technology, producing more energy per rated watt by upward of 20% during a system’s 25-year lifespan, the same amount of roof space will harvest 60% more energy than conventional solar panels. Sunergy Systems is one of the selected solar installers in Washington State to offer the A-Series.

SunPower solar panels are designed to maximize power production and energy savings for our customers, and we are only scratching the surface of what is possible in home solar, SunPower’s Jeff Waters continued. With our innovative solar solutions and services and our established channels to market, SunPower will continue building on its strong leadership position in distributed generation around the world.

Reasons to Choose SunPower’s New 400-Watt Residential Solar Panel

The following section is based on SunPower’s article, Q&A: Five Reasons to Choose SunPower’s New 400-Watt Home Solar Panel.

Today, we announced the debut of our most powerful home solar panel available to date: the 415-watt A-Series solar panel. Here are some key things to know about this ground-breaking solar technology:

Why A-Series Solar Panels

Q: I am thinking about purchasing a SunPower home solar system. Why would I choose A-Series solar panels?

A: A-Series panels incorporate the best of SunPower’s high-performing, reliable technology into the world’s first ever 400 and 415-watt commercially available residential solar panels. A-Series panels are an excellent choice if you want to get the most energy from your roof in a constrained space, maximizing your electricity bill savings.

Solar Panel Design Difference

Q: What is different about the design of this solar panel?

A: The foundation of this solar panel is the Maxeon Gen 5 cell, which is 65 percent larger than prior generations, delivering a powerful and highly efficient panel. Our unique interdigitated back contact cell technology makes this panel industry-leading for durability and energy generation. The larger-sized cell converts more sunlight into energy. The result is more power than any commercially available home solar panel. No one can touch this.

How A-Series Panels Fit Into Product Line

Q: You are known for your X-Series panels paired with your Equinox™ home solar solution. How will A-Series panels fit into your product line?

A: A-Series panels continue the evolution of our ‘less-is-more’ design philosophy that made our Equinox system a game-changer. With A-Series panels, we have simplified the system design even further, reducing the number of parts on your roof and reconfiguring how the microinverter is connected. This simple and reliable design helps each panel deliver the maximum amount of power, especially in instances where some of the panels may be shaded part of the day or in hot weather. This ensures your system is generating as much energy as possible while the sun is shining. We are delivering the most energy out of a panel that we have ever provided for a homeowner.

Solar Panels For Limited Roof Space

Q: I have limited roof space. Will the A-Series panel work well in this situation?

A: Yes, A-Series panels produce 60 percent more energy in the same space over 25 years compared to conventional panels — no other solar manufacturer offers anything close to 400 watts, and we are offering up to 415 watts. Lower wattage panels mean you would need more panels on your roof, and that means there are more potential points of failure. A-Series panels are not only more powerful, but they are also backed by SunPower’s industry-leading Complete Confidence Warranty. A-Series panels give you the most power and the most assurance.
