Solar Friends,
The future of the solar industry in Washington is in jeopardy and the Washington Solar Energy Industry Association (WASEIA) is working hard to keep this vital source of carbon-free, renewable electricity viable and sustainable in our state.
Sunergy Systems is a founding member of WASEIA and our Company President is a serving Board Member. We need your help!
As many of you know, net metering is a key policy that makes solar financially viable. When a solar energy system produces more power than a home needs, the excess electricity spins the meter backwards, giving the homeowner a dollar-for-dollar utility credit for all the excess energy.
Many utilities are approaching (or have exceeded) the minimum amount of one-to-one net metering of solar energy required by law. They are now in the process of deciding if they will end or shift away from net metering. If this happens, the value of solar for your friends and neighbors and all future solar customers will be reduced, and the pace of solar installations will drastically slow, threatening the climate along with thousands of living wage clean energy jobs in our state.
This also threatens the Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA), which commits Washington State to an electricity supply free of greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. To ensure this happens, we must keep one-to-one net metering in place and move rooftop solar deployments forward as quickly as possible.
This is where you can help. As a solar owner, you understand the value of solar and are a critical part of moving solar policy forward. We need to raise the funds in order to stand up for solar homeowner’s rights and win this battle in Olympia. We are up against corporate lobbyists with deep pockets.
Can you donate to this cause today! Have you received a Sunergy SolarPass for referring friends to us? Has your system been paid for by State and Federal incentive programs? Are your utility rates locked in for 25+ years? If so, then now is the time to give back so future homeowners can benefit from the power of solar energy as well!
